Detailed introduction

Actinide-85 High Purity Germanium (HPGe) Lung Monitoring Detector

Actinide-85 is a high-resolution, high-purity germanium detector designed for lung counting and whole-body counting applications. It is based on the PROFILE S8530 and features a proprietary stable low profile front contact surface to maximize low energy efficiency.

· The 85 mm diameter and 30 mm thick HPGe detector features a Stable Thin Front Contact (STFC) optimized for actinide bioassay measurements.

· The frontal effective area is large and can be used for applications higher thanEnergy rays of 3 keV have excellent sensitivity.

· The guaranteed energy resolution (FWHM) at 5.9keV is equal to or better than 500eV.

· The guaranteed energy resolution (FWHM) at 122keV is equal to or better than 700eV.

· The guaranteed energy resolution (FWHM) is equal to or better than 1.9keV at 1332keV.

· Guaranteed Peak Comparison> 55:1。

· The typical value of FW 0.1M/FWHM is <2.0, and the typical value of FW0.2M/FWHM is <2.9.

· Yes or noUsed in conjunction with LN2 ICS cooler.

The unique detector design combines a large area with excellent energy resolution over a wide energy range, with excellent peak shape, which is very important in complex spectral analysis. The instrument therefore has excellent sensitivity for detecting small amounts of actinides such as uranium, plutonium and americium, as well as higher energy fission products and naturally occurring radioisotopes from distributed sources such as human lungs.

The large frontal area of Actinide-85 (>54 cm2) provides high geometric detection efficiency and excellent resolution performance in the low energy range of actinides such as Pu, Am, and U below approximately 400 keV, while the 30 mm crystal depth provides good stopping power and excellent relative efficiency at higher energies. Excellent guaranteed energy resolution of 1.33 MeV combined with optimal peak shape makes Actinide-85 the ideal detector solution for analyzing fission products.

In lung measurements, large-diameter detectors provide better lung coverage;Actinide-85 ensures the all-important energy resolution. The special mechanical structure of the cold finger allows two, three or four Actinide-85 detectors to be placed adjacent to each other and in contact with the detection object. This configuration provides the greatest possible detector efficiency for human lungs. The detector cold fingers are made from selected qualified low background materials that not only have a low radioactive background signature but also provide long-term reliability. The detector end cover is made of ultra-low background, high-strength carbon fiber composite material, which can provide greater than 85% transmittance for energy rays above 15keV, and close to 100% transmittance for energy above 20keV. To further ensure and verify the low background quality, each detector is placed within a multi-shield and the background spectrum is tested for 100,000 seconds after assembly. This spectrum is provided with the detector.

Positioning
The ORTEC Actinide-85 detector can be ordered in a variety of configurations to meet the various requirements of lung, body and whole body counting procedures. The ORTEC Internal Pulmonary Exposure Assessment System positions detectors independently, providing detector placement and measurement efficiency. In general, positioning mechanisms should be made from carefully selected low-background materials and should also be easy to use and highly reliable.

Cold Finger and Dewar Jar

StandardActinide-85 comes with a 3.5 liter "large capacity" dewar. It ensures a typical 48-hour hold time.

Mechanical cooling options
ORTEC ICS can replace liquid nitrogen to cool the Actinide-85 detector.

Using liquid nitrogen is expensive, time-consuming, and (especially for lung assessment) potentially dangerous. Additionally, the presence of liquid nitrogen may pose a threat to personnel safety.

ICSUsing ultra-high vacuum, there is no need to perform a complete thermal cycle on the detector when complete reheating occurs. The investment cost of ICS can be recouped within two to three years, and the ICS cooler has a long service life and excellent reliability, lasting almost as long as the detector itself.

Consult the manufacturer for useResolution performance with ICS cooler.

SMART-1 option (-SMP)
SMART-1 optionUsed to monitor and report on important system functions, as well as save verification codes and report on them later. It includes high voltage, so all instruments require no external high voltage power supply. The SMART-1 features a rugged ABS molded plastic housing with molded strain-relief sealed cables securely attached to the detector end cap. This prevents the detector from being seriously damaged by moisture leaking into the high voltage connector. The SMART-1 can be placed anywhere convenient for use without interfering with shields or other mounting hardware.
