Midterm sonography can be used to estimate gestational age and diagnose fetal malformations so that students gain competency in hands-on practice. Unfortunately, patient access will be restricted.CIRS 068 Fetal Ultrasound Biometric PhantomHelps guide and demonstrate fetal ultrasound techniques in a stress-free situation.

A tissue-equivalent intact fetal phantom was suspended in an echo-free amniotic fluid-like environment. The phantom is placed with2 fields of view in a rotatable cylinder. Multiple fetal/transducer orientations can be achieved.

Type 068 contains an asymmetrical head with the upper part of the skull, left and right brain lobes, and lateral and third ventricles. These anatomical references are used to measure biparietal diameter (BPD) and anterior/posterior diameter (APD). The left and right femoral shafts with distal physis were provided to measure femoral length (FL). Umbilical cord markings indicate the correct position for taking the abdominal circumference (AC). Crown-rump length (CRL) may also be used. Additionally, the phantom features full facial detail, making it suitable for demonstrating multidimensional systems and assessing fetal anomalies.

All anatomyAll are based on published biometric data on normal fetal growth rates at 21 weeks gestation. This allows evaluation of composite measurement techniques and biometric analysis procedures common to most ultrasound scanners.
