USAThe CIRS 086 ACR-certified digital breast phantom was designed under the auspices of the American College of Radiology (ACR) to test the performance of FFDM systems. Objects within the phantom simulate calcifications, ducts, and tumor masses. The CIRS 086 ACR certified full field digital mammography phantom is designed to determine if your DM system is able to detect small structures important in early detection of breast cancer.
USAThe key component of the CIRS 086 ACR certified digital breast phantom is the 7mm thick wax insert, which sits within a matching cavity milled in a polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) block. By using a 0.23mm "compensator" placed under the wax insert, the total attenuation under the wax insert is matched to a 4.1cm thick PMMA. The wax insert contains targets by map (Figure 2). The fiber is monofilament nylon and simulates calcifications or "spots" made of spherical glass with a mass that simulates 10% fat - 90% glandular breast tissue.
