Detailed introduction

Cryostats, Dewars, Cryostat/Dewar Assemblies and Electric Cooling
All HPGe radiation detectors need to be cooled to low temperatures in order to operate properly. This is usually done using a liquid refrigerant, see liquid nitrogen (LN2) or using an electric cooler.

ORTEC provides a full range of cryogenic cooling solutions to meet the diverse requirements of customer applications. These solutions include static and cyclic LN2 operation, as well as a variety of electric cryocoolers.

For details on each solution, choose from the table below.

Electric cooling option

Liquid nitrogen based options
ICS ®
Integrated electrical cooling system for PopTop and Streamline HPGe radiation detectors, using state-of-the-art refrigeration technology to provide LN2-free operation.
Möbius™
The liquid nitrogen condensation radiation detector cooling system only needs to be replenished with liquid nitrogen every other year.
ICS Integrated Cryocooling System for ORTEC Radiation Detectors

Mobius Liquid Nitrogen Condensing Dewar for Radiation Detector
Dewar and cryostat
Standard liquid nitrogen cooling with a variety of cryostat configurations and dewar sizes to support most radiation detector applications. . (For cryostat/dewar specifications, see the configuration guide for the relevant detector type.)
