By combining images from two different imaging modalities, hybrid scanning systems exploit the strengths of each imaging modality while minimizing their respective weaknesses. The CIRS 802 quality assessment phantom provides a simple and cost-effective solution to verify image alignment and distortion. The phantom consists of a watertight acrylic cylinder that can be filled with a variety of liquids. Four non-parallel rods of different diameters extend the entire length of the cylinder. Images generated using the phantom can quickly and clearly show if there are any mismatches in the fused image.
