Any signal of polarity and amplitude up to 10 V is delayed by the selected time and reproduced at the output. Consists of two outputs, one with a nominal impedance of 1 Ω and the other with a nominal impedance of 93 Ω.
Convenient switch-selectable delay steps normalize time between two or more signal paths to simplify tuning of coincidence and gating systems. Each signal experiences a normal delay as it travels through the signal path. The Model 427A can delay the earlier of two signals so that the pair coincides with subsequent analysis.
The input impedance is not affected by the selected delay, so no signal loading changes occur. The DC-coupled input is provided through a buffer amplifier, eliminating interference from the delay-select network. Input impedance is greater than 1 kΩ.
Because the instrument is DC coupled, the Model 427A can maintain very high count rates without distortion. This, together with the fact that the gain is 1 from input to output, ensures that every signal fed through it has a controlled delay.
