Test cubes: cylindrical and sphericalMagphan® uses a 10cm test cube for image quality measurements. The test cube is made of 6 mm thick polycarbonate plastic with an outer diameter of 10 cm. The test cube contains slice thickness bevels, sensitometry vials, high-resolution test plates and a low-contrast disk.

Configuration: Test cube plates are available in standardThe 2-D configuration is assembled, with dual opposing slice thickness bevels allowing the operator to quickly verify that the phantom's z-axis is aligned perpendicular to the imaging plane. Nylon screws hold the units together, allowing you to change the test board or cube sides into a three-dimensional structure. 3-D configuration allows x, y and z slice geometry measurements to be obtained from a single data acquisition

Components of the Magphan SMR170 Magnetic Resonance Performance Testing Phantom:

Slice thickness ramp: The slice thickness ramp is mounted on the outside of the test cube. The thickness of the bevel is2mm, with a width of 10mm and an angle of 14° with the axis of the phantom, providing a 4x magnification for slice width measurement. Opposite bevels intersect at the center of the test plane of the cube for alignment verification. Ramps can be used to test indexing between slices within multi-layer fragments and for testing table delta accuracy.

Photosensitivity assay bottles: Photosensitivity assay samples are stored in four cylindrical vials with an outer diameter of1.9 cm, inner diameter is 1.6 cm. Measurements of T1 and T2 allow vials to be filled with various solutions through the 0.6 cm (1/4 inch) port on the outside of the cube.

High-resolution test board: High-resolution gauges are cut into2 mm thick acrylic plate, supported by channels within the test cube. High-resolution testing is accomplished using a series of rectangular slots with test patterns ranging from 1 to 11 line pairs per centimeter (5mm to 0.45mm resolution). The test slot length is 1.25 cm between 1 and 4 pairs per centimeter, and the test length is 0.9 cm, involving 5 to 11 pairs per centimeter.

To test for geometric distortion (spatial linearity),The 3mm holes are spaced in a square pattern of 2cm, 4cm and 8cm. The geometric distortion of the system can be assessed by measuring the distance between these holes.

Low Contrast Disc: Low contrast sensitivity was performed with an acrylic disc mounted on a test cube base. Circular grooves in the disc create low-contrast images through volume averaging. The depths of the four groups of three circular grooves are respectively0.5mm, 0.75mm, 1.0mm and 2.0mm, with diameters of 4mm, 6mm and 10mm respectively.

Cube Support Disk: The two-piece cube support disk houses the cube within the phantom housing and can be easily installed and removed. While fixing the position of the test cube, the support plate provides information for spatial linear measurements.

by measurementMagphan® diameter in x and y directions to test geometric deformation. Geometric distortion can also be assessed by measuring the distance between 3mm holes on the support plate configured as 8cm, 10cm and 12cm squares.

Housing: The housing assembly consists of a housing and a cube support disc (support10cm test cube). Comprehensive spatial uniformity measurements can be made using the phantom housing with test cube and support disk. The housing is easy to clean and allows the use of gel as well as liquid solutions. Multiple ports allow unrestricted flow when draining.

Note:The Magphan SMR170 MRI Performance Phantom does not provide a contrast media filling solution. Customers need to add their own padding solutions.
