Detailed introduction

The spatial resolution test card (spatial resolution test phantom) is a tool specially used to test and evaluate the spatial resolution of imaging equipment, such as CT, MRI, etc. It is designed and used mainly to measure and evaluate the image quality and resolution of the equipment. They can help users evaluate the spatial resolution capabilities of a CT scanner in the X-Y plane and Z-X plane.

When testing with a spatial resolution test card, some important parameters need to be considered, such as FOV (field of view), Matrix (matrix) and Pixel size (pixel size). The relationship between these three is: FOV (mm) = Matrix × Pixel size (mm), which correspond to the frequency encoding direction and phase encoding direction. In addition, the breast CBCT performance phantom is also a test phantom specially designed to evaluate the measurement of parameters such as breast CBCT equipment image uniformity, image signal-to-noise ratio, spatial resolution, density resolution, and image gray value uniformity.

Selecting and using the correct spatial resolution test chart is important because different test phantoms may be suitable for different imaging devices and test environments. Therefore, its performance parameters and usage instructions need to be fully understood to ensure accurate and reliable test results.

When using the spatial resolution test card for testing, certain steps and precautions need to be followed. First, place the phantom in the center of the scanning field and ensure that the axis of the phantom is perpendicular to the scanning plane. At the same time, position the CT positioning line at the center of the layer where the spatial resolution module is located. Then, the phantom is generally placed at the front of the diagnostic bed and placed in the center of the frame, and the scanning frame positioning light is used to ensure that the center of the phantom is positioned correctly.

When using it for testing, the phantom should be placed in the scanner and positioned in the center of the scan field using the scanner's positioning system. The phantom consists of two silicon chips placed in orthogonal positions enclosing multiple resolution test patterns from 1 to 10 μm. In addition, different line pair cards are selected according to different line pair numbers. There are 21 groups in total, namely 1~21lp/cm.

When using spatial resolution test charts, there are also key parameters that need to be taken into consideration, such as low contrast detectability (LCD), which is also considered a key parameter. In addition, a phantom is imaged by CT, and the module contains line pairs of various sizes; the line pairs are composed of high-contrast stripes of specific widths separated by equal intervals.

In general, the use of spatial resolution test cards requires strict compliance with operating procedures, while selecting appropriate phantoms and test parameters based on specific equipment and testing needs to ensure accurate and reliable test results.

The advantages of the spatial resolution test card are mainly reflected in the following aspects:

1. Accuracy: The spatial resolution test card can accurately measure and evaluate the spatial resolution of imaging equipment, such as CT, MRI, etc. It describes the smallest details that can be displayed in CT images when the density resolution is greater than 10%. In addition, the higher the spatial resolution, the clearer the image. This makes the spatial resolution test chart an important tool for evaluating and optimizing the image quality of medical devices.

2. Efficiency: The use of spatial resolution test cards can help users evaluate the resolution of the device in a short time, thereby improving the efficiency of the device. For example, the breast CBCT performance phantom is a test phantom specially designed to evaluate the measurement of parameters such as breast CBCT equipment image uniformity, image signal-to-noise ratio, spatial resolution, density resolution, and image gray value uniformity.

3. Targetedness: Different spatial resolution test cards can be optimized for specific imaging equipment and test environments to ensure accurate and reliable test results. When performing a test, the phantom should be placed in the scanner and positioned in the center of the scan field using the scanner's positioning system.

4. Multi-purpose: Some spatial resolution test cards have multiple fixed points, which can be used for three-dimensional scanning. The Z-axis range is also large, and is suitable for various complex imaging tests. This makes the spatial resolution test card have broad application prospects.

The spatial resolution test chart provides strong support for image quality evaluation and optimization of medical equipment through its advantages of accuracy, efficiency, pertinence and versatility.
