The ORTEC Model 590A Amplifier and Timing Single Channel Analyzer consists of a low noise shaping amplifier and a timing single channel analyzer.
The amplifier uses active filter shaping (0.5, 1.5 and 3.0 μs shaping times) and can be used with various types of radiation detectors. It is often particularly suitable for use in combination with proportional counters and scintillation detectors in X-ray, nuclear spectroscopy measurements, X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer experiments. High amplifier gain improves the performance of proportional counters because they can be used at lower operating voltages, thereby improving gas gain versus count rate stability. The amplifier's short resolution time ensures high count rate capability without sacrificing the energy resolution of the proportional counter.
