GWL (well) P-type coaxial radiation detector

ORTEC's GWL Series High Purity Germanium (HPGe) Well Detectors are the ideal solution for low-level counting of small samples. The ion-implanted detector well has an ultrathin dead layer (only 0.3 μm thick) and therefore provides a useful energy range (10 keV to 10 MeV). Unlike other well-type detectors that penetrate germanium crystal holes, ORTEC's well-type detector has a "blind hole".;There is at least 5 mm of germanium active area at the bottom of the hole (picture on the right). <This geometric opening angle close to 4π provides excellent counting efficiency. Large wells (1.55 cm diameter, 4.0 cm long) accommodate a variety of sample sizes. Like all ORTEC's HPGe detectors, the HPGe Well Detector can be stored or repeatedly cycled to room temperature without loss of performance.

GWL series features:

• The geometric opening angle is close to 4π; the counting efficiency of small samples is high.
