Operation of the Model 462 Time Calibrator is simplified with controls that enable the operator to set the time period from 10 ns to 10.24 μs in 11 binary steps, and the time range can be selected from 80 ns to 81.92 μs in the same number of steps. The average repetition rate of the output pulses can be controlled to make the count rate slower or faster to match the user's experimental requirements, while an external gate input can control the output remotely or automatically.
A dispersive amplifier on the front panel of the Model 462 mixes half-Gaussian noise with the output of the time-to-amplitude converter. Use this circuit to expand each peak in the time spectrum to determine the exact center point of each peak. This peak dispersion noise can be cut in or out of the circuit without reconnecting any cables.
The Model 462 is a double-width NIM module with all signal levels standard and is compatible with any NIM modular instrument system.
