Input A accepts input signals with a width of 50 ns or greater and regenerates an internal signal for coincidence comparison. The signal width at input A is adjustable, with a resolution time ranging from 100 ns to 2 μs, which can be adjusted via the front panel controls.
The function of each input can be freely selected and its signal can be used for "coincidence" or "anti-coincidence" or be disabled. This allows the selection of different combinations of input signal relationships without adding or removing cables from the system.
Another operational flexibility is the ability to select the number of inputs required to meet the requirements without having to change cables. For example, if the selector shown is set to 2, then overlap between any two inputs selected for the conforming feature will result in the generated output. If one or more inputs are selected for anticoherence, all outputs are suppressed in the event of such a signal. Since any combination of input signal effects can be easily selected on the front panel, the Model 418A is a universal unit suitable for any system layout.
