The ORTEC Model 276 Photomultiplier Tube Holder and Preamplifier includes an all-in-one low noise preamplifier, a PMT header with voltage divider, and a focus control for scintillation detector applications. The device has two outputs: a preamplifier output for energy analysis and an anode output for timing or auxiliary energy analysis. The preamplifier is DC coupled to simplify pole-zero cancellation of the main amplifier. The test input accepts the output of the pulse generator to calibrate and test preamplifiers and subsequent systems. The Model 276 has a diode protection circuit to prevent damage to the internal transistors by sudden application or removal of device high voltage. The Model 276 is powered from the ORTEC main amplifier or preamplifier power supply.
Type 276 is directly compatible with most Class 10 PMTs that plug into a standard 14-pin socket.
