The round front panel meter provides excellent readability in both modes due to its inherently long effective range of 240° and indication accuracy of up to 2%.
Provides zero point rejection for any linear range up to 100%. By adjusting this control, any relatively constant count rate background can be subtracted from the data. Additionally, suppressing the zero point enables observing frequencies beyond the nominal full-scale limits with greater accuracy than can be achieved by switching to a higher range. 7 linear and 2 logarithmic time constant switches help accurately read the frequency of the input signal.
The Model 449 measures the frequency of positive and negative input signals with various pulse shapes. This provides the user with maximum flexibility in selecting input signal sources.
In addition to front panel instrumentation, it has outputs for current and voltage recorders, as well as a high-level voltage output for control or monitoring applications.
Model 449 is optionally available with a built-in audible sound output (Model 449-2) whose frequency changes with the count rate. The valid sound frequency range is 0 to 500 Hz, which corresponds directly to the full-scale range of the front panel meter. The sound output includes a threshold control for suppressing all sound until the input frequency exceeds a preselected sound threshold, and a separate sound volume control for sound monitoring of observed frequencies locally or at a relatively distant location.
For control and/or alarm applications, the Type 449 can operate accessory devices via its analog inputs.
