In addition to the standard ±24V and ±12V DC supplies, ±6V voltages are also available to meet the high current requirements of TTL and ECL logic widely used in new NIM modules. A full load of 0.75 A on two 24 V supplies, 1.5 A on two 12 V supplies, and 4 A on two 6 V supplies provides a total of 120W of DC power at room temperature (23°C). Can drive a total load of 80 W DC at ambient temperatures up to 50°C. A standard 60 VA with 120 V AC is also provided on the module power connector, which is independent of the actual AC voltage applied to the main power line. Two 9-pin D-type connectors on the rear panel conveniently provide ±6V, ±12V and ±24V power to the preamplifier using industry-standard preamplifier power plugs.
The Type 4006 power supply integrates a wide range of protection features. The ±6 V power lines contain crowbar circuitry to protect TTL and ECL integrated circuits from overvoltage conditions. All six DC power lines contain protective foldback circuitry that automatically reduces output voltage in the event of excessive load current or a short circuit. When the supply voltage drops due to overload, the green LED indicator will turn red. If the voltage drops to zero due to a low impedance short circuit, the LED will go out. Thermal cut-off switch prevents power supply from overheating. When the radiator temperature is within the safe temperature range of 15°C, the red temperature warning indicator light will illuminate. If safe temperatures are exceeded, all power to the device automatically shuts down. Power automatically resumes when the temperature drops below safe limits. There is no high-temperature external heat sink to prevent accidental contact. All heat sinks are inside the device and are cooled by powerful fans. The AC power input is protected by a fuse and the device meets all CE requirements.
A power input module with standard IEC connectors and optional 100, 120, 220 and 240 AC input voltages at 50 or 60 Hz makes the 4006 model compatible with nearly all country power cords and AC outlets.
